The Baltimore Research and Education Foundation (BREF) administers and facilitates research and education programs within the Veterans Affairs Health Care System that benefit our Veterans and their families through cutting-edge clinical trials, innovative biomedical research, and a variety of educational activities.

BREF is an independent, state-chartered, tax-exempt 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization dedicated to biomedical research and education at the VA Maryland Health Care System (VAMHCS), the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg, WV, the Hershel “Woody” Williams VA Medical Center in Huntington, WV, and the Hampton VA Medical Center in Hampton, VA.
